Electric vehicles (EVs) are the future of transportation and their contribution to cleaner air has led OKI to support the widespread adoption of this technology. In 2022, OKI participated in the development of statewide National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program plans for Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Each state was tasked with developing a plan for the deployment of EV Charging Infrastructure to be eligible to receive NEVI Formula funds from the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation. Our participation included hosting a NEVI public outreach session, sponsored by DriveOhio, and attending numerous virtual meetings to provide feedback during plan development. In September 2022, each state’s plan was approved, unlocking a combined $300–plus million in funding for EV Infrastructure over the next five years.
