Communications Specialist 

 Job Summary:

Ohio–Kentucky–Indiana Regional Council of Governments is seeking a full time Communications Specialist responsible for speech writing and research, press releases, editing, special events planning and some technical web-based functions for social media, including data management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Public Relations, plus three to five years’ experience in Communications. A working knowledge of transportation systems and government affairs is preferred. Superlative writing skills required.

Starting salary range is $45k – $55k; commensurate with experience; excellent benefits.

Transportation Modeling Manager

 Job Summary:

Ohio–Kentucky–Indiana Regional Council of Governments is seeking a qualified travel demand model manager to lead the development and application of the agency’s regional travel demand forecasting model. The agency’s current model is a four-step travel demand model with an emission estimation module.  An Activity-Based model is under development and the successful candidate will lead a team of technical professionals in this effort.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field.   A Bachelor’s degree and extensive experience with travel demand modeling may be substituted for the Master’s degree requirement.  OKI seeks candidates with at least five years’ experience in travel demand modeling with two years of supervisory or management experience.

Starting salary range: $85k – 105k; commensurate with experience.

Senior Transportation Modeler

 Job Summary:

A professional level position responsible for model development, model data processing, and model documentation, reporting and visualization.  Requires ability to perform highly complex analysis related to the travel demand model.

Essential Functions:

  • Creates, maintains, analyzes, debugs, and streamlines the OKI transportation model and associated programs
  • Prepares program documents and operating reference manuals related to highly technical materials
  • Assists in preparation of validation reports
  • Provides assistance and training to system users
  • Integrate third party models into OKI model system
  • Design structure/framework for program writing
  • Develop and maintain data file management system

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs all other assigned tasks and duties.

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, or related field; a combination of extensive experience and a Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for the Master’s degree requirement.
  • Minimum of five years of transportation modeling and related computer programming/scripting experience
  • Computer proficiency in programming /data analysis / troubleshooting and extensive knowledge of application systems (Cube Voyager, ArcGIS), languages (Visual Basic, Java, Python, R, JavaScript) and databases (Access, FoxPro, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Strong foundation of travel model development concepts, including trip models and activity-based models, statistical methods and data sampling techniques
  • Demonstrated use of the CT-RAMP activity based model is a plus
  • Demonstrated use of web technologies is a plus
  • Ability to manage priorities, take initiative and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team and with outside consultants
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills

Essential Physical Skills:

  • Ability to sustain attention in front of computer for extended periods of time. Ability to operate a motor vehicle; valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Environmental Condition Requirements:

  • Works inside the office in a sedentary posture.  Periodic meetings with office staff.  Periodic attendance at meetings outside OKI office.
