A sewer service area indicates where centralized sewage collection and treatment is currently available or would be if the
customer pays the installation cost. It may include individual parcels that do not send their sewage to a publicly owned treatment
works due to onsite treatment, lack of feasibility, a grandfather clause or other reason for exemption.
To produce this composite map of centralized sewer service areas, OKI relied upon the judgment of sewer system operators.
Most operators pointed out existing service areas but a significant number saw fit to extend their service area boundaries around
undeveloped properties that they intend to serve. To map the concentrations of onsite sewage treatment systems, OKI relied
upon data from county health districts and highlighted areas where there are 100 or more onsite systems per square mile.
Please note that this map is a general planning product designed for the purpose of illustrating regional trends, not site-specific conditions. The most accurate and up-to-date information on any sewer service is available from that sewer system operator.
