There are many great resources available for kids to gain knowledge of environmental issues. Youth-based environmental organizations are growing throughout the
United States
and they are able to inspire kids to do their part for a clean environment while having fun! Below are links to some great websites that will provide information and games for kids in an entertaining and productive way.
- Captain Planet Foundation is a youth foundation that promotes four main themes: Educate, Empower, Involve and Invest. The site is based on a popular television cartoon that promotes environmental awareness, while demonstrating projects that will apply the knowledge.
- EPA Student Center is part of the United States Environmental Protection Agency that focuses of informing kids through projects, activities and games. This site covers a variety of environmental issues including: Environmental Basics, Air Conservation, Waste/Recycling, Human Health, Ecosystems, and In Your Neighborhood.
- E Patrol is a foundation committed to informing kids of environmental issues. This website allows kids to learn what the issues are, and how they can help. There are many fun activities on this website, including a quiz and a membership certificate.
- Kaboose is a website that provides fun ways to re-use household items such as egg cartons and tin cans. One of the best ways to teach kids about environmental issues involves showing them ways to have fun while helping the environment, and that’s exactly what this website provides.
- Kid's Face is an organization with more than 300,000 members, which focus on informing and facilitating kids’ involvement in environmental causes. Members of Kids F.A.C.E. raise awareness of environmental issues while also taking part in activities such as planting over 1 million trees.
