The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) serves an eight county region in three states. The agency is the area’s Metropolitan Planning Organization, and fosters collaboration between governments, civic organizations, and the business community on diverse regional transportation, land use, environmental, and economic development challenges. OKI seeks a self-motivated professional responsible for demographic research and forecasting. Knowledge of: Principles of demographics, land use, statistics and US Bureau of Census programs, including CTPP and ACS data. Skills: Strong database, spreadsheet, and ARCGIS skills. Qualifications: MS/MA (or equivalent experience) demography, urban/regional/environmental planning, or related field. Three years experience in planning related field involving demographic estimates and projections. A comparable amount of education, training or experience, which prepares one to perform job duties, may be substituted for portions of these minimum requirements. Starting salary range is commensurate with experience; beginning range is $50 – $55k. Traffic Data Collection Internship Available

Job Summary:

A temporary, part-time internship assisting with traffic counting duties. Hours are flexible, although one day at the beginning of the week (Monday or Tuesday) and one at the end of the week (Thursday or Friday) will be required. Intern will assist OKI staff in setting pneumatic traffic counters on area roadways.

Essential Functions:

1) Must be able to handle heavy objects (traffic counters and hoses)

2) Must be able to use a nail gun, hammer, razor blade, and other tools

3) Must be able to see and hear traffic

4) Must be comfortable working in the roadway

5) Must have a valid driver’s license

Job Qualifications:

Civil engineering or urban planning student

Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position.

Length:      May 2017 (ASAP) – November 2017

Hours:        Flexible hours (12 – 20 hours per week)

Pay:            Range of $11 to $13 an hour
